FOSSC - Free And Open-Source Software Community
What We Want to Achieve By Establishing This Organization.
- Promote Open Source and Development Culture in College
- Introduce new technologies, standard practices to students
- Provide a platform where students can discuss their ideas, new trends or anything that they find interesting.
- A place to network and meet like minded folks.
Who are we
FOSO will be a open to all community. We’ll aim to do 1-2 physical Events per month (subject to change), which will be conducted entirely by students, and will mostly have a pre planned agenda.
After every event, we’ll post all the things covered on our website and social handles.
A Event can be one of the following :
- Talks on any tech / topic
- Meet-up with Industry Experts
- Idea Proposal etc
Other than these events, we can post additional blogs, videos etc on our platform. The group will also be open to discussion and we’ll have several channels for resources/ doubt solving/ general discussion etc.
How will we do it
This will be a community powered by its members.
So all the activities will be conducted for them, by them. Any member can apply for a time slot in the next meet-up. They’ll have to show the relevant work and then they’ll be allowed to deliver a talk.
A talk can be on anything that aligns to the vision of open-source or benefits the community.
Some good examples are :
- What is open-source?
- Good Git practices
- Benefits and need of testing
- CI/ CD and how it can make your life easy
- Information on GSoC
- How Blogging can improve your profile, etc.
Who is a member ?
everyone and anyone who likes tech. It will be a open to all community, and anyone will be be able to join with just a click of a button.
